The students governing body of the Advanced School of Mass Communication ASEC, in line with its social plan, has decided to organize a first ever charity program of the institution called Friendship day.
Scheduled to take place on Saturday June 1st, activities will focus on two essential points: to spend the day with vulnerable children, and to offer them gifts. For this purpose, the social home for children Le Foyer de Rouffignac, situated at the Nlongkak neighbourhood in Yaoundé has been chosen as the destination for this landmark event.
Speaking to the students on May 13th, the president of the Social and Environmental Affairs Commission for ASEC Arnaud MAWEL told the students that doors are now open for donations, and these donations will either be material or financial.
While calling on the students to make their donations, he insisted that for material donations, bars of soap, rice and other food stuffs, dairy products, clothes and shoes will also be accepted. These donations are to be directed to the president of the Social and Environmental Affairs Commission.
Anaud MAWEL, called on the students to give all they can, with willingness from the heart stating that no matter the nature of the contribution, the governing body believes that it will put a smile on the children’s faces.
Those who will be unable to make material donations, can as well make financial donations, or a mobile money transfer to the MTNnumber 677669428. The collected cash will help in the purchase of more items, for the children. “These are children who are truly in need of help, because without help, these children will not have a life. There is no breakfast for these children, if there are no donations” MAWEL pleaded.
He continued by telling the students that donations are still ongoing till the 31st of May, and that students should not be afraid because records will be kept of every contribution made, and a balance sheet will be drawn up on how the donations were used.
He concluded by assuring the students that their donations will all go to the desired destination that is the social home, and encouraged students, to join the student governing body in visiting the social home on June 1st.
