Reports from the Littoral Region reveal that the Douala Military Court has dismissed the case pitting the state against Cameroon journalist and blogger Mimi Mefo, acquitting her of all charges.
The case was dismissed today November 12 2018, following the latter’s appearance in court for the first after her release from the Douala new bell prison over the weekend.
According to CNA, the case was called at the court today, charges read and the accused asked whether she was guilty of not and she pleaded not guilty.J
Responding to a question from the judge at the military court as to whether she wanted the judgement to proceed or to take place in the next three days, Mimi said she wanted the judgement to be in the next three days.
What followed in the next few minutes was rather surprising as the Attorney General stood up and asked that the case be dismissed.
Mimi who was being charged of propagating fake news among other crimes was accompanied to the court by dozens of lawyers as well as several journalists across the country.
