Cameroon joins the rest of the world this November 27, to begin observing the 12th edition of the annual campaign christened “16 days of activism against gender based violence”.

This year’s campaign for the fight against violence on women will be observed under the theme “”Orange the world: #HearMeToo”.

It recognizes women and girls as they speak about violence they experience particularly in marginalized and undeserved communities that include refugees, minorities and those affected by crisis and natural disasters.

During the 16days of activism to end violence against women, the government of Cameroon alongside some non-governmental organizations will educate the public on best practices to uphold the rights of women as well as young girls.

The experts are equally expected to advocate for greater awareness and action in order to put an end to deeply rooted gender based violence and discrimination.

The campaign which began on the International Day for the elimination of violence against women on November 25, enjoins everyone to amplify the voices of survivors.

It is expected to run till the 10th of December 2018.
