Advertising students of the Advanced School of Mass Communication have defeated their peers of Journalism by a score of 2 goals to zero. This was during the second round of the games of the 2019 Directors Cup. This match was played at the Mateco Sports Complex of the University of Yaoundé I.
Victory seemed certain and already attained for the journalists, as they looked forward ready to face their opponents the advertisers, in the day two game of the 2019 ASMAC Director’s cup.
The journalism students coached by Alain Ndanga started the game with a morally boasted spirit following a brilliant 4-0 thrashing of Information and Documentation students last Saturday during the opening match of the tournament.
10 minutes into the encounter, their steadfastness and calmness yielded fruit with an opening goal from a striker MINYEM Marc Arthur who slotted in a brilliant long ranged short beating keeper Desmond Asah of the opposite team.
The first half goal increased MINYEM’s tally to 2 goals in the soccer jamboree.
Barely 5 minutes later, an error in the defensive compartment of Journalism students led to a late first half equalizer with goal from an on-rushing striker AZO’O EKABE whose strike drove passed shot stopper NGAH Junior.

A first half characterized by series of inaccurate passes and pressure from the Advertisers whose spirit appeared rejuvenated with the assurance of possible miracle following the equalizer.
In the second segment of the game, Journalism students mounted lots of pressure on their opponents with series of shots on targets, numerous free kicks and corners with non-yielding results.
An overdose of attacking football which led to the team conceding a second goal excellently netted in by Frank TAKAM. A second half goal which confirmed the Advertisers comeback from a 1-0 deficit to a 2-1 victory.
Speaking to 237Campus.Com after the match, MBEMBE Marcel YOKI, striker of journalism said “Our team lost concentration and we were surprised by our opponent’s performance. We are sad but will work hard to bounce back when we face our next match”.
On the part of the coach of the Advertising team, Valery CHIAMOH expressed surprise for his team’s victory saying they had very little time to prepare for the match and was shocked by their excellent performance.
