Online business has become an arena of scamming. In the town of Yaounde, some youths have fallen victims due to what they term as blind trust and naivety.

Her first online business experience was a scam. Losing thousands of FCFA, a computer level one student, in Yaounde Annette Nguti was introduced to an online group sales specialized in cosmetics.

With promises of face void of acne and supposed testimonies, she commanded facial products from Buea, after sending both transportation and products fairs she realized the scam.

As she says, the girl in charge told her the road was blocked “Now her number is not going through, I am still waiting for the products after months” she adds.

Some youths steal online on different forms. The showcase of quality goods online and delivery of low ones is becoming frequent. This is the case for geography level one student, in the University of Yaounde 1 Melanie Ngwa as she shares her experience.

After commanding a strapless gown online, she agreed on home terms delivery. “What I received was not the gown i saw in the group chat, but was next to a table cloth” she says. This experience has pushed her to change her perception of online business as she says she will never perform any online transactions.

With this online scheme, many are deserting the online market turning back to the old fashioned method of shopping. Which is going to the market and purchasing their own stuff.
