Preparations ahead of the public exam intensify in the West region, as most students have decided to take every measure it requires for August to be successful.
With about three weeks left to the June 2021 session, many learners are yet to balance emotions and wit. They have expressed their emptiness in terms of subject mastery. “I barely can tell if I can explain a full topic in history that appears to be my best subject.
I think I got too concentrated with other subjects”. Finding it difficult to make a choice, Tracy Moussi, an Uppersixth Science student of Government Bilingual High School Bafoussam, has decided to make a last minute time table. She reads one subject each day, with the expectation to finish five subjects in 5 days; that is from Monday to Friday. During the weekend, she prefers to revise past questions alone. When she finds a question difficult, she gets to the most competent teacher.
According to her, this is not the moment to get studying with friends. It might be an arena of discussion and other unnecessary slands and talks that wouldn’t benefit them in the dieing minute affair. Especially when one knows how much they are blanc. At times her weaknesses turn out to be different from those of her friends.
“Though it’s difficult to tell how much one has studied I’ll say I get more engaged in subjects that appear difficult to comprehend for me at this stage” declares a science student in one of the government secondary schools in the West Region. Nonetheless, question and answer sessions with friends gives many a student some confidence on their capacity to retain what they read before the last minute tension.
Preparations had begun since the very first week of September this school year. Many confess they got up regularly to read in the beginning. Now, the speed at which studies are ongoing has increased. Instead of 6 hours of sleep for many, it has become four hours. There is no reason why they should sleep more now and sleep less next year if they repeated that class. From 8pm to 11pm, they are on table and from 3am, they are awake for another studies period.
From the look of things, Upper sixth students and Terminal students in Bafoussam are not ready to put on the uniform again next year. Except fate makes it otherwise. Higher education awaits them as they express certainty each time they get to the question and answer session.
