The theme of the World Radio Day for this year is already known, the celebration of this world day is planned for the 13th of February, as it is of tradition.
The World Radio Day is an international day celebrated every of February 13th of each year . The Day was decided by UNESCO on 3 November 2011 during its 36th conference.
In December 2012, The General Assembly of the UN endorsed the proclamation of World Radio Day, which thereby became a day to be celebrated by all UN agencies, funds and programmes and their partners. Various radio industry bodies around the world are supporting the initiative by encouraging stations in developed countries to assist those in the developing world.
The celebration of World Radio Day corresponds to the date of creation of the United Nations Radio (UN Radio), on 13 February 1946. The objective of this day is to encourage radio media members to stay united. It equally has as objective to demonstrate that the radio is one of the most oldest media connected to the humanity’s history.
The theme of this year’s celebration is “New World, New Radio”. This theme has been chosen to insist of the fact the radio, is a media that follows the evolution of our society and adapts itself.
It is a media close to humanity as it has existed since history. Considering the actual sanitary context, the radio is a media that has helped to fight against misinformation and promote the respect of security measures.
The theme is thus in relation to the radio’s capacity to continuously stay in line with societal transformation. For this 10th celebration of the world radio day, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has classified this theme under sub themes which are: evolution, innovation, connexion.
