Level Three journalism student, Kevine Orneilla Anoko, has qualified for the next stage of the fifth edition of the national Miss Orangina beauty contest.

Originating from Bafia, Centre region, Orneilla Anoko, student at the Advanced School of Mass Communication, grabbed her ticket after emerging second out of ten girls, during the competition’s Centre region selection contest that took place over the weekend at the Soa neighborhood, Yaounde, Centre region.

The first stage of the competition started with a parade in a casual wear by the participants. They all are in boots and an Orangina T-shirt. Dancing is what they do on stage, portraying the contours of their bodies.

Afterwards, they had a passage in their classic attire. He who says “Miss Orangina” talks of the brand ambassador and hence must be eloquent and have a mastery of general knowledge. It is in this line that each candidate is put to test.

As time passes, the audience is getting larger. Passers-by who knew nothing about the event find pleasure in sitting for the show. A bottle of Orangina, served by errand girls, is sold at 500F CFA.

The competition is characterised by votes from the audience via a WhatsApp contact < 680538080> indicating the number of candidates you are voting for.

It is time for the final stage. Candidates are to proceed in their traditional attires according to their respective ethnic groups. An origin from Bafia, Anoko proved to the audience she is indeed a daughter of the native soil.

The number 13 is definitely a good luck number as she springs 2nd best from the competition.  “I have won the battle but not the war. I hope I will get to the end of the journey dating 19th December 2019” says Kevine.

It is her first competition as a “miss”. Indeed a humble beginning with a bright star for Kevine Orneilla Anoko.

The competition was said to begin at 5pm but begun at 7pm. It was not surprising for many because of the usual Cameroonian trend on punctuality.

The night begun by an animation session by volunteers who danced to their best on stage. These ones were compensated with gifts such as T-shirts and Orangina drinks.
