The calendar of the first semester set, examinations for the current academic year begun this Ferbuary 08th 2021 at the university of Yaoundé I Ngoa Ekelle. This was done despite the strike said to take effect this very day at the whelm of the campus .
It was around 8:30 AM at the amphitheater 1001 Faculty of science , that the level one and two students opened the ball with biology , French for the first part, and chemistry for the second part which started at 1:45.
The tensed atmosphere, characterized by the silence governed with the rules of an examination hall, the students expressed mix feelings . For some , “the exams were not that difficult, questions were very technical,” however they remain confident.
This examinations done in a context marked by the continuous increase of covid 19 infections in the country, measures implemented by the government were taken in to account, to curb the disease , most essentially the wearing of face mask before entering the hall and social distancing within the hall.
Taking in to account that , only two thousands of the overall five thousands lecturers have received their payment allocations, we recall, the national executive office of the National Union of Super Teachers (Ben-Synes )has announced that an unlimited strike was to be launched in state universities as of this same day . This decision was taken on January 30th 2021 at the end of a special session of the Ben-Synes meeting
thus, teachers do not only demand better working conditions, but also the payment of the 4th installment of the modernization and research bonus for the year 2020.
As a first day, students were more or less satisfied , now what is left is the next step with the rest of the papers.
